My mission

My 'APD journey' began in 2000, during my final year at University. Back then, the approach was primarily based on American studies, with a strong focus on the medical aspect of the condition. However, as an audiologist and speech and language therapist, I always felt a strong need to integrate both backgrounds to fully understand the complexity of auditory processing skills. Through extensive research, clinical experience, and the influence of the British approach—which highlighted cognition and language as key factors— my perspective on interpreting listening difficulties changed. This shift led me to value a comprehensive and holistic approach, including all possible factors (auditory and non-auditory) as the starting point of the evaluation.

Now, my mission with this project is to disseminate evidence-based information about listening difficulties, considering all possible causes, to empower parents to seek appropriate support for their children.
